Found inside the clip of the Delta pen is a corno-pepperocino or red pepper horn which is a traditional amulet of good fortune in many cultures and is said to ward off evil. Delta’s red pepper charm is cleverly hidden inside the clip of this ballpoint pen ready for you to use whenever good fortune is needed. The pen comes in an all-black finish or in a contrasting red and black model. This Delta ballpoint pen has a smooth twist-action. The Gallery writing instruments are the fruit of Delta’s traditional handicraft. This collection produced from a special multicolor resin is turned by hand from solid rods. Gallery collection renders homage to Drip painting, a form of abstract art in which paint is dripped or poured onto the canvas. This painting style has been used since 1946 by various famous Americans artists who defined it as: ” expressive power through material outbreaks in a frenetic vortex of signs. The Gallery collection is available in tow versions which are set apart by the cap; one offers the cap in this multicolor resin and the other offers the cap in black resin (Doue’). Trimmings are plated in either rhodium or 24Kt gold. Both versions offer the central ring is solid sterling silver 925%. This is the same ring that characterizes the Dolcevita collection and that offers that “family feeling” common in many of Delta collections. Vespucci was born in 1454 to a prominent family in Florence Italy. As a young man he read widely and collected books and maps. While in Spain Amerigo Vespucci began working on ships and ultimately went on his first expedition as a navigator in 1499. This expedition reached the mouth of the Amazon River and explored the coast of South America. On his second voyage in 1501 Amerigo Vespucci sailed under the Portuguese flag. After leaving Lisbon it took Vespucci 64 days to cross the Atlantic Ocean due to light winds. His ships followed the South American coast to within 400 miles of the southern tip Tierra del Fuego. While on this voyage Vespucci wrote two letters to a friend in Europe. He described his travels and was the first to identify the New World of North and South America as separate from Asia. (Until he died Columbus thought he had reached Asia.) The Sami people, more known as the Lap (Lapp), inhabit the extreme north of the Scandinavian Peninsula and, besides being the only native population in Europe (in Lapland there are traces of Sami going back to the ice Age, approximately 9600 years ago is one of the scarcest. Today, the total number of Sami is estimated to be about 75,000 of which 20,000 live in Sweden. To be Lapp meant to be a person that was a breeder of reindeer, a fisherman and a hunter. The pastures are considered today the more important resource on which the traditional culture stands. For centuries the majority population has had a patronizing attitude towards the Sami, which has affected cultural policy and politics. The current and official policy was adopted in 1963 and is expressed in the Parliamentary Records as follows: The policy of the national state must be to give the Sami-speaking population the opportunity to preserve its language and other cultural customs on terms that accord with the expressed wishes of the Sami themselves. Although the Sami population is not constituted in an independent state, it possesses a representative body, the Sami Parliament; a capital, Karasjok, and their own flag. The Limited Edition comprises 1963 roller balls (R/2) in 925% sterling silver. The rollerball version is easily convertible into a ballpoint pen.
